A Dream Comes True: How Gittie's Home Became a Reality with Debby's Touch

Gittie called me about two years ago.

She had bought an apartment on paper in Bet Shemesh right before COVID started.

When Covid arrived, everything got stuck, and the building took much longer than expected.

Gittie started designing her home on her own and hired me only after most of the choices had been made.

She said several times that the biggest mistake they had made was not hiring me from the beginning.

Unfortunately, so many mistakes could have been avoided if somebody there had been aware of them.

When I started working for Gittie, I tried to fix as many issues as possible. For example, the shower head in the main bathroom was put on the wrong wall and had to be redone entirely. The tiles were already put in, so the whole thing had to be removed, and the pipes had to be replaced. If I had been involved from the beginning, I would have been able to ensure that things were done properly.

I also helped her with the interior design of the apartment.

Then, after she got possession of the property, I brought my contractor in and fixed the issues that the builder hadn’t taken care of.

Now a few words about interior design!

Gittie wanted the apartment to have an esthetic suitable for a vacation home but nice enough to become their permanent home in Israel one day. When I started to work for her, the floors and the bathroom tiles had already been selected.

They had chosen a lookalike wooden tile for the floors and lookalike marble tiles for the bathrooms.

So I had to adapt the style to these materials.

Gittie and her husband Tod perfer a classic and neat style.

The kitchen doors are pearl grey with a very delicate frame. The countertop is a Caesar Stone lookalike marble that matches the darker barstools nicely.

The couches are pearl grey, and a lovely grey striped wallpaper completes the scene.

We selected a wooden dining table, chairs, and bookcase that add the classic style atmosphere that Gittie and Tod sought.

I replaced the standard netilat yadaim sink provided by the builder, with a bowl laid on a wooden cabinet, and I covered the walls around it with grey tiles.

In the master bedroom, a king-size bed with a wide closet matches the style of the drawers in front of the bed. The closet color is light beige, and it brings a very relaxing feeling to the room.

Gittie and her family came to Israel after COVID and were excited to enter a fully furnished and ready-to-live-in apartment! Gittie and Tod always dreamt of a home in Israel, and as they said, "We are so thrilled, we are so happy with the way everything turned out, with the choices that Debby made. We did it all long distance, this is the first time we are seeing the apartment, and we walked in, and it is just gorgeous."
